Ancient Indian Mound builders

5th grade social studies

Name:____________

You will be doing research on the ancient American Indians known as Mound Builders. Your final project will be a poster with two graphics (pictures) and a one-page report written in your own words. The pictures should be no bigger than 4 inches x 4 inches if they are printed off the computer. They may be larger if you draw them.

Include a bibliography at the end of your report (where you found your information)

You will be recording your notes in Kidspiration.

Answer these questions:

1.      What were these people called (tribe names)?

2.    When (dates) did they live? ( may be different dates for each tribe)

3.    Name at least three specific places where the mounds are found.

4.    Why did they build their mounds? Give several reasons

5.    Describe how they built their mounds? What tools did they use?

6.    What shapes were the mounds? Name at least three different shapes.

7.     How big were they?

8.     Name 5 kinds of things have archeologists found inside the mounds

9.    Why are the mounds in danger of disappearing or being damaged?

10.            Include two other interesting facts you found.
